Toronto Signs Jack To Offer Sheet
July 12th, 2009 | by sweetbob |
Toronto is either throwing a wrench in Indiana’s plans or possibly helping them out. Indiana Pacers restricted free agent Jarrett Jack signed an offer sheet for 4 yr/ $20 million with the Toronto Raptors. It is no secret that Jack and T.J. Ford did not get along last season. The feud reportedly started because of a girl, that wouldn’t be the first time that happened between NBA players.
The Pacers have a week to match the offer, which they will receive Sunday or Monday. The Pacers are hurting for money, so they will let Jack walk. This could be good news for 2nd round pick, A.J. Price, who was probably the odd man out before this possible signing. Price has played well so far in the summer league and unless the Pacers sign another point guard, he could be backing up Ford next season.
Jack averaged 13.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists for the Pacers last season. He started the final month of the season. If he were to leave and go to Toronto, he would probably back up Jose Calderon.
