If The Pacers Were WWE Superstars

October 15th, 2009 | by sweetbob |

WWE Raw was in Indianapolis this week and Tyler Hansbrough and Rod Benson was shown at ringside. It had me thinking, if the Pacers roster were members of the WWE Universe, who would they be? I pick eight players on the roster and choose which WWE Superstar would best resemble the player physically or with their actions.

I have watched wrestling since I was old enough to remember. I grew up with guys like Hulk Hogan, Hillbilly Jim, and the Junkyard Dog as my idols. That’s either really sad or funny, but I loved watching wrestling. I still watch it, but I’m not as hooked as I was when I was a little guy. I hope you find this humorous, even if you’re not a wrestling fan.

Roy Hibbert is “The Great Khali”

Roy Hibbert is our big man and the Pacers hope that he’ll be a force in the league. He isn’t nearly as tall as The Great Khali, but let’s hope he’s more durable. (The Great Khali is out for a few months)

Danny Granger is “MVP”

I say that Danny Granger is “MVP,” because that’s what the Pacers hope he will become. They already know that he’s the team’s most valuable player, but they want him to grow into a possible league MVP candidate this season.

T.J. Ford is “Rey Mysterio”

Rey Mysterio is the smallest wrestler in the WWE and he competes for titles. The Pacers hope that T.J. Ford, though small, can help Indiana become better than many expect them to be.

Tyler Hansbrough is “CM Punk”

Tyler Hansbrough doesn’t have any tattoos and I don’t think he’s straight-edge, but he’s the future of the Pacers. CM Punk is a young wrestler in the WWE and he has made an instant impact. The Pacers hope that Hansbrough will make such an impact for them this year.

Mike Dunleavy is “Randy Orton”

This is where you may need to know something about the WWE to get this one. Randy Orton is the son of Cowboy Bob Orton, who was kind of inept as a wrestler. Mike Dunleavy Jr.’s father, Mike Dunleavy, is considered inept by many Los Angeles Clippers fans and any other team’s fans that he has coached.

Troy Murphy is “Chris Jericho”

Chris Jericho is a consistent performer and always gives his best effort each and every night. Troy Murphy is the same kind of performer, you can expect a double-double from him each game and does his best to give the Pacers the best chance to win.

Jeff Foster is “The Undertaker”

Jeff Foster has been on the Pacers for what seems like forever. The Undertaker has been in the WWE for 20 years and he is still going strong. Indiana needs Jeff Foster to keep up his playing level and stay a nice option at C/PF.

Josh McRoberts is “Hornswoggle”

Okay this one was way too easy. I’m sorry Josh, but your Irish name just made me do it. The Pacers have gotten very little from McRoberts, but I expect nice things from you this year.
