Pacers Struggle Against Golden State

December 1st, 2009 | by sweetbob |

The Indiana Pacers are the NBA’s version of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets. They can start out a game and look like a contender, but as the game goes on, they lose steam and they can’t finish games. With the return of a healthy Troy Murphy, Mike Dunleavy, and Jeff Foster, expectations were high against Golden State, a team they beat two weeks ago at home. If the Pacers can’t beat Golden State, it could be a long season.

It’s nice to see Mike Dunleavy and Troy Murphy on the court for Indiana. Dunleavy didn’t start, but did manage to score 22 points off the bench. Dahntay Jones did a nice job off the bench as well, he put in 21 points. But no one seemed to be able to stop Monta Ellis, he put in 45 points and was make the Pacers look like the Washington Generals.

Roy Hibbert didn’t start and he still managed to get in foul trouble. At one point, he got two fouls in a span of only two minutes. In this game he only logged 11 minutes and still had 5 fouls, this can’t go on if he ever plans on cracking the starting lineup this year.

The Pacers next game is on Dec. 2nd in Sacramento. The Kings have had trouble this year, but they have a few young guns that can put up points in a hurry. The Pacers need to learn how to play a complete 48 minutes in a game. I don’t think they have done that this year, it’s about time they start playing deep into games and preserve a lead. Until they produce a full game, they can’t expect to make the playoffs, even in a weak Eastern Conference.
